Coldwell Banker Leads With Localized YouTube Content

Real estate giant Coldwell Banker is leading the social media charge in its industry with a geo-targeted, branded YouTube channel launched last week. One of the first of its kind for such a struggling industry sector, the site hosts hundreds of videos, from original clips from local sales agents to content provided by CNN, Turn Here, and This Old House.

The most innovative aspect is Coldwell’s localization of the content. The site features Coldwell Banker’s “On Location” channel where visitors can drill down to region-specific videos highlighted on a local map. “YouTube doesn’t offer the ability to find out what videos are local, but we geo-targeted the videos and populated them onto the map,” said Mike Fischer, Coldwell’s SVP of marketing.

Coldwell Banker has an obvious strong grip on the strategic and best use of social media. They are leveraging the power of “media” in social media. Their focus on the content and value it can provide to their target audience is making the channel one of the fastest growing on YouTube. According to Mike Fischer, Coldwell’s SVP of marketing, nearly 600 videos are currently on the channel, with new ones being uploaded daily from across the globe.
